SL-010 PREAMPLIFIER SIGNATURE SERIES
The SL-010 is the outcome of many years of dedicated efforts by designer
Hans-Ole Vitus. From the very start, his aim has been to bring out the best in
musical recordings, using his experience as a musician.
The more affordable SL-010 is a smaller version of the Signature SL-101. Using
much of the ideas/technology from the SL-101, the SL-010 also employs matched
transistors and super precision resistors to ensure optimal working conditions
for the different stages of each module. This combined with a special coupling
of each input stage, results in an ultra linear frequency response. The design,
together with the local shunt regulated power supply, ensures an excellent
signal to noise ratio, making it possible to reveal every micro detail in the
recordings.
The end result is that the SL-010 exposes micro details/dynamics never heard
before without compromising the coherence of the recording. One of the
challenges of amplifiers is the volume control as even very small tolerances
easily translate into distortion. The current trend employed in many other
designs is mostly a digital volume control of some sort, however Hans-Ole Vitus
is not content with fashion.
The volume control of the SL-010 is unique in the industry because there is only
one (1) resistor in series with the signal at any volume level. Placing more
resistors in the signal path than actually needed (regardless of method; digital
or analogue) only creates room for more distortion. Vitus Audio believes this
approach yields the optimal performance for the SL-010, and the result is an
analogue relay based volume control, signified by an ultra short signal path
with no sound coloration and zero limitation of the dynamics. |
